Supporting Every Learner: The Sage School Student Support Plan

At Sage School, we recognize that every student’s path to success is unique. Central to our mission is the Student Support Plan, a dynamic, "working document" designed to evolve alongside your child. Rather than a static profile, this tailored roadmap is built using a rich synthesis of diagnostic data and ongoing classroom observations by our dedicated faculty and staff.

To create a truly personalized experience, we prioritize a holistic review of every applicant. We don’t just look at numbers; we look at the whole child through four essential lenses:

Cognitive Assessments: We dive deep into cognitive profiles to celebrate a student’s strengths and address their challenges. As part of the application, we require current private psychoeducational or neuropsychological testing (or school-based testing if private results are unavailable). To ensure we have a complete picture of a child's academic potential, an intelligence (IQ) test may be required if not already present in the records.

Academic Records: We carefully review transcripts, standardized test scores, and teacher recommendations to understand a student’s educational journey so far.

Parent Reports: You know your child best. We deeply value the insights, history, and perspectives provided by parents and caregivers.

Student Interviews: We connect directly with students to learn about their motivations, personal interests, and social skills, ensuring Sage is a place where they can truly thrive.

By integrating these diverse perspectives, we ensure that every student at Sage is seen, understood, and supported from day one.

  • Direct Instruction: Students will receive explicit instruction during the school day in SEL skills, such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
  • School-Wide SEL Essentials: We integrate SEL into the daily life of our school, fostering a positive and inclusive community.

  • Direct Instruction: Students receive targeted instruction in executive function skills, including time management, organization, planning, and attention.
  • Personalized Support: Individualized learning plans address the unique needs of each student, ensuring they have the tools and strategies to succeed.

At The Sage School of Dallas, we believe that true leadership emerges from a foundation of integrity, empathy, and a passion for learning. Our Authentic Leadership program is designed to cultivate these qualities in our twice-exceptional students.

Core Principles of Authentic Leadership:

  • Integrity: We instill the importance of honesty, fairness, and ethical behavior.
  • Purpose: Students explore their personal "why" and how it connects to their goals and aspirations.
  • Vulnerability: We encourage students to embrace their strengths and weaknesses, fostering resilience and empathy.
  • Accountability: Students learn to take responsibility for their actions and the impact they have on others.
  • Heart-Centered Leadership: We emphasize the role of compassion, kindness, and service in effective leadership.

All community members at The Sage School of Dallas will be authentic leaders including the students; this will be achieved by creating a student-centered community.

Student-Centered Community includes:

  • Student Leadership: Students actively participate in decision-making and leadership roles, planning events, organizing activities, and taking on responsibilities within the school community.
  • Community Engagement: We encourage students to connect with their community through volunteer work, service projects, and social initiatives.
